Henna is a flowering plant which has a brown color and is used since ancient times for dying hair and skin. The name Henna is used for the dye which is derived from the plant. This dye is then used for temporary tattooing on different parts of the body. There are specific and different beautiful henna designs for feet.
Applying Henna is an integral part of the tradition of Asian countries, mainly Pakistan and India. Girls adorn their skins with Henna on special occasions for example; Eid, Diwali, Marriage etc. They usually decorate their arms and feet up to the ankles with Henna. Henna stains can last a few days or a month depending on the quality of the paste, how long the paste is allowed to remain on the skin and individual skin types.
Application of Henna is a very easy to do process. The paste is usually applied on the skin using a plastic cone or a thin brush. The painted area is then wrapped with tissue, medical tape or plastic bag to lock in the body’s heat, which helps to create a more intense color on the skin. The wrap is worn for six to eight hours and sometimes overnight and then removed. At first the print is light orange in color and gradually darkens through oxidation. The final color is reddish brown.
In Asian societies before marriage a special Henna celebration is carried out by the Bride’s family. Usually the bride and bride groom attend the event together. On the event professional henna artist is hired or a relative applies henna to the bride’s hands and feet, and the henna designs for feet are very intricate. Often initials of the groom are hidden between the patterns.
Beautiful feet are considered to be a girl’s greatest asset of beauty. Henna accentuates this beauty and brings confidence. It gives a glow to the feet. The henna designs for feet are usually delicate and are made from small patterns. Sophisticated knots and vine patterns and designs give the feet a delicate look.
